MEET SAVYA RAMESH | Baker

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

Savya | I’m Savya, Mom and Wife to My Boys. Owner of Wickedly Whisked - A home-based dessert workshop that took shape in 2017 and continues to keep me unarguably happy.

Have you always lived in Northwest Arkansas? What do you love about our area?

Savya | I moved from India in 2008, lived in Houston, Greenville SC and since 2018 living in NWA. NWA is the right size, diverse, nature friendly and self-sufficient. There’s just one thing I would add to NWA – more flight options please!

How did you get started in you career? What is your favorite part of what you do?

Savya | Ever craving taste buds & a genetically inherent sweet tooth, are the two most influential reasons for me to give shape to “Wickedly Whisked”. My favorite part would be R&D, I get to experiment, taste and decide if I should bake more.

What makes your food unique? Is there any cooking or baking techniques that set you apart from other cooks/bakers?

Savya | Being a stickler for perfection, I believe in using best quality ingredients, which is the taste enhancer in my product range. I stick to the basic baking/cooking techniques, they have been used for some time now for a good reason.

In moments of self-doubt, hardships or failure, how do you build yourself back up?

Savya | I believe that when it’s your passion, you consider it as a learning experience rather than a failure. I honestly loose my sleep till I get it right and eventually I do get it right. Oh, I do sit with a tub of home-made Chocolate Ice Cream and watch FRIENDS.

What advice do you wish someone had said to you?

Savya | Follow your passion!

What inspires you?

Savya | The LOVE for Desserts, when my son says “Amma (Mom), I NEED Chocolate Macaron/Ice Cream” or when people say they miss a dessert due to a dietary restriction.

What are some things you love to do, love doing here in Arkansas?

Savya | I love traveling! In NWA, brunch with My Boys, walk the numerous miles of trails, explore our beautiful downtowns and local restaurants.

What is your favorite treat to eat (of your own creation)? What is your favorite food?

Savya | There’s not one favorite, to name a few right now – Flourless Chocolate Cake, Cheesecakes, Almond Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Ice Cream/Gelato (Yes I’m a Chocoholic!). Now food, of course Indian, Italian and Mexican.

Name some local creatives you admire.

Savya | I’m going to name local businesses in every field not limiting to desserts. Sorella Photography, Fifth Street Studio, Paige Meredith (Her Vibe is everything), 2LocasBrand (Just Love Them! Call me partial but it is what it is), Ethwes. Each of them is so passionate about their work and do it with such honesty, just being around them you get the drive to do more.
